Northwest Farm Credit Services Donates $50,000 in Crisis Relief for Montana Wildfires

SPOKANE, Wash. (July 28, 2017) – Northwest Farm Credit Services donated $50,000 through the Montana Stockgrowers Foundation and the Garfield County Fire Foundation to aid farmers and ranchers in the wake of devastating fires in Montana. Numerous fires are currently burning in the state, including the Lodgepole Complex Fire in eastern Montana, which has scorched more than 270,000 acres.

"We are saddened by the destruction these fires have caused and are concerned about the devastating effect on Montana agricultural producers,” said Bill Perry, Northwest FCS Montana President. “Our mission is to support agriculture and rural communities, and we hope this contribution will help provide relief to the farm and ranch families who have been impacted."

Donated funds will be administered by the boards of directors of the Garfield County Fire Foundation, a subsidiary of the Central Montana Foundation; and the Montana Stockgrowers Foundation. Funds will be used to help fire victims with emergency needs and costs of rebuilding their farm and ranch operations. Those impacted by the fires can apply for funds by contacting the Garfield County Fire Foundation c/o Garfield County Bank, PO Box 6, Jordan, MT 59337 (406) 557-2201; or the Montana Stockgrowers Foundation, 420 N California Street, Helena, MT 59601 (406) 442-3420.
