2020 Director Position Opportunities

Opportunity Bulletin - Board of Director Positions up for Election in 2020

The 2019 Nominating Committee will meet this spring to consider candidates to run for the board of directors of Northwest FCS in 2020 in Region 7 (Hillsboro, Salem, Junction City), Region 8 (Roseburg, Central Point, Klamath Falls, Redmond) and Region 9 (Baker City, Ontario, Pendleton, The Dalles).
The Nominating Committee will select two candidates from each region who will be placed on the ballot to be voted on by voting stockholders in the February 2020 director elections. The successful candidates will serve a 5-year term, beginning in March 2020. This is a compensated position. All candidates will be required to provide information on business/financial relationships, financial disclosures and other information needed to establish eligibility and that are required by law and/or Northwest FCS bylaws and applicable board policies.
To be eligible to run for a director position, you must:
  • Be a customer of and own voting stock in Northwest FCS;
  • Live in or have a substantial part of your operation in the region you are interested in representing; and
  • Your loan(s) must be in good standing.
In addition to eligibility requirements, there are certain skills and characteristics that make a director effective and that the Nominating Committee will look for. Desired characteristics and skills include:
  • Actively engaged in farming/ag operation.
  • Prior board experience – preferably fiduciary versus advisory boards or committees.
  • Strong interpersonal/social skills.
  • Active/respected in community and industry.
  • Diversity of all types.
  • Formal education – Bachelor's or other advanced/specialized degrees or studies.
  • Integrity, honesty and trusted by all they deal with.
