Provide an Effective Guest Worker Program for Agriculture

The availability of a stable supply of farm labor for both seasonal and year-round employment is critical to the future success and competitiveness of U.S. agriculture. Northwest FCS supports establishment of a new agricultural guest worker program as proposed by the national Agricultural Workforce Coalition (www.agworkforcecoalition.org).

Key components include:
  • Administration by the U.S. Department of Agriculture
  • Adjustment to legal status to allow current farm workers to remain on farms
  • A workable and efficient system for both seasonal and year-round employees

Maintain a Strong Farm Credit System

The farmer-owned Farm Credit System has exercised sound and safe lending practices and remains financially strong, able and committed to serving agriculture and rural America. As a cooperative lender, and part of the Farm Credit System, Northwest FCS reflects that same financial strength and commitment to the future of Northwest agriculture and rural communities, and provides capital to support all types of agriculture.
